Scholarship Application Period:  January 6th, 2025 - April 4th, 2025

The  Chau   Family  Charitable   Foundation,  established  as  a  501(c)(3)  non-profit organization in May 2017, is dedicated to providing assistance and support to various non-profit institutions committed to worthy causes. Founded by Frederick and Dorothy Chau, a couple who settled in California after receiving their education in the United States, the Foundation embodies their lifelong commitment to aiding those in need and fostering programs aimed at improving the prospects of future generations.

The Scholarship Fund, a component of the Foundation, was inaugurated in Spring 2024 with a specific  focus  on  first-generation  students,  those  from  non-traditional  homes,  and individuals pursuing career-oriented educational paths. In its inaugural year, the Fund targeted graduating high school students enrolling in Southern California community colleges.

Recipients of the two-year scholarship may utilize the funds for various educational expenses,   including   tuition,   fees,   books,   housing,   transportation,   and   meals. Disbursements  are  made  on  a  semester  basis,  contingent  upon  students  meeting minimum  eligibility  criteria.  Depending  on  the  student’s  academic  progress  and fulfillment of degree, program, or certification requirements, additional funding may be available for a third year.

Funds are directly transmitted to the recipient’s college on a semester basis, ensuring continuous attendance and satisfactory academic performance. To maintain eligibility for ongoing support, students must provide documentation each semester, including transcripts from the previous semester, and record of full-time registration (minimum 12 credits) for the subsequent semester prior to receiving funding.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, the Chau Family Charitable Foundation Scholarship Fund will offer annual financial support to  10 students  in the  Hacienda  La  Puente School District.
